Crowdsourcing is the use of people or a person for certain services whether they get paid or unpaid according to the definition from the dictionary. It seems like nowadays people are doing crowdsourcing. They don’t really care if they get paid or not as long as they are helping someone. You have the professional crowdsourcers and the amateur ones according to the article the “blurring line between professional and amateur.” The professional ones produce great content and get paid for it while the amateur ones make the same great content as the professionals and they don’t get paid. They are just happy to get the privilege to help out. According to the article “ the decline and fall of tech on digg,” they talk about how a lot of tech stories are not getting published like they used to. The percentage has rapidly decreases over the past decade. Crowdsourcing has opened up a lot of jobs for people as well. There are jobs such as photographers and other people needed and you can either get paid for the photos or whatever it is that you do or you are just basically volunteering your services. In the article “the rise of crowdsourcing,” they talk about a site called iStockphoto where you had both professional and amateur photographers trying to sell their pictures. The professionals would put a high price of their services and products. The amateur photographers would sell their products at a low price and offer their services sometimes for free. The site had made a lot of money from this and is very popular. Crowdsourcing is a good way to get yourself out there. You get to meet people and they see what you can do and it’s up to you whether you charge them or not depending on if you see yourself on the professional level or if you are still an amateur
