FINAL PROJECT ESSAY:
MY PREDICTION TO THE FUTURE OF COMMUNICATION:
THE JADIS SMARTWATCH 1.0
The future of digital communications is bright and unstoppable. If I may quote scripture, to describe the future of communication stated here, “it is one thing that I must do, and that is forgetting what lies behind and looking forward to what lies ahead.” Technology is a beast and will keep on evolving. In its infancy of communication via the telephone people have watched the “Ma Bell” phone cultivate into a cellular device that people can take with them. Gone are the days when you could only use a phone is in the house. These days we have minicomputer phones which still amaze me to this day. I’m a bit older than my classmates, and I have had the pleasure of holding one of the first cellphones that were made, and they don’t look anything like the phones we have today. Back in the early 90’s, cellphones didn’t even have cameras. Now some smartphones can tell time, take pictures, and you can even write a book on it if you wanted to. Then one day some guy invented the smartwatch to pair with the ever-evolving phone. The idea seemed great at first but a lot of people felt the watch wasn’t worth the money and the smartwatch reception wasn’t that well received. Most people buy smartwatches for status and just because it is the latest craze. However, the plan is for smartwatches to only get “smarter” as they should because technology is only going up. I believe the next significant movement in digital communications and media will be an upgraded smartwatch like the Jadis smartwatch 1.0 that I presented in class. My prediction for the future of digital communications will be an advanced and innovative smartwatch that will be able to do things that were never done before.
The Jadis smartwatch will be an explosion to the cellular movement. People won’t be able to say that they don’t see the reason for having a smartwatch and that it is a waste of time and money. They will appreciate this watch because it will be essential for all walks of life. In the article, The Future of the Smartwatch Should be Smartwatch Bands, stated, “Turns out that turning a smartphone into a wrist device isn’t that appealing. Even if you can somehow get the right balance of battery life, device size, and developer support, people aren’t interested in getting anything more than notifications and fitness tracking from the devices they wear on their wrists.” (Chaim. Gartenberg) This notion should be debunked. Smartwatches should be more useful. I must be honest. I was a Samsung gal and refused to get an iPhone. I couldn’t stand Apple phones but loved everything else Apple, especially their computers. Then finally, this year I needed a new phone terribly and decided to try the iPhone out. I like it but like the Samsung better. Two months later I brought the Apple smartwatch. Is it necessary? No. Does it look cute on my wrist-heck yeah and that’s simply because it’s a matching Apple product. I want more and if I feel that way and I am a techie I am sure so do others.
Therefore, the latest & greatest technology in a smartphone watch is here and will continue to improve over time. It is time for an innovative explosion of an upgraded digital watch that will be essential for all. I discovered that this watch is beyond its time and will be huge amongst everyone The world needs my proposed watch because we need an innovative watch that can do more than play music, communicate and tell time. We need a digital robotic wearable technology that will assist us in everything that we do so we can save time! I believe the JADIS 1.0 will make an outstanding impact on the world because it is cutting-edge technology that will help advance the way we operate daily. My idea is a valid predictor of where this field is going because innovators want the smartwatch to win. They want to give the people more. In the online article, Smartwatches are the Future of Smartphones, the author stated the apparent goal, “These technological additions can make the smartwatch a device that will eventually make the smartphone irrelevant or rather obsolete.”
The goal would be to be able to use the smartwatch without needing the usual pair cellphone. If this can happen then, the smartwatch can be indispensable. The dream is to have a watch comparable to the infamous Dick Tracy watch from the comic book series. Dick Tracy could fight crime with his watch, so this is the type of watch people would desire!
Currently, the smartwatches we have are cool but just basic. All three watches are good watches and have their pros and cons, but the Jadis watch exceeds them in comparison. The Apple watch looks great and is a status timepiece, but it fails in doing anything out of the ordinary that your phone can’t do. The Samsung watch is the same. It needs to have a charger just like the rest and the Fitbit watch only has basic capabilities of allowing the wearer to view messages and notifications whereas the Jadis does the same, but she warns you of possible danger if someone is walking up on you too close. Consumers don’t want a smartwatch that just tells time. In the article on the website below the author wrote about how he thought the Apple Watch was awful.

Therefore, the current smartwatch must have an overhaul. The world needs a smartphone that can do all different types of things like monitor health and not just by tracking your walking steps. How about checking your blood sugar? This would be awesome. In the article online, What Smartwatches and Other Wearables Can’t Track Today but Might can in the Future, stated, “2 to 5 years, suggests Reinertsen, depending on advances in signal processing and machine learning technologies. But it might take 10 years to get to market, as companies will need to figure out how to get paid for these sorts of tools.” These are the type of add-ons that would be the future for smartwatches. The watch will be a brilliant timepiece as well that can charge on its own with a built-in battery that is solar powered under a new technology called Sobatt 1.0 and can be a stand-alone digital device that can be paired with a smartphone or not. Has a digital assistant app that is like Alexa or Siri named Kiki who is more than just a digital assistant who only works on command. Kiki Is advanced and better because she will assist you without you even asking her help. She will know what to say before you even ask. She knows you because you have programmed her with all your likes, characteristics, wants and essentials. Kiki will say to you at lunchtime, “remember that you want to be beach ready for summer so don’t eat too many carbs.” The Gazelle 1.0 will also have mood sensors. An example of that is, Kiki will sense your energy like a mood ring, and if you are upset she will say to you, “maybe wind down with a glass of wine?” “Or how about a gym workout?” Kiki can sense noises like your grumbling stomach, and she will say: “seems like your feeding time.” These are the type of great things the smartwatch has in store for its customers. Below is a video of the future of the smartwatch.
In twenty or thirty years, the industry of communicative media technology will be outstanding and very futuristic. These innovations will be easily accessed all through the smartwatch in a future setting like the classic cartoon, The Jetsons where robots and walking on sliding floors was a thing. Smartwatches will make a massive dent in the legacy of smartphones. My idea will be for the smartwatch will be to add a hologram effect for all apps that are on the smartwatch. The smartwatch interface is small, so sometimes the apps appear to be tiny. In the future, the smartwatch like the Jadis will have an option to hit the home button for the apps to appear in a hologram for easier access by the simple touching in the air of the app of your choice. Also, in thirty years the smartwatch will also be able to help humans time travel! Yes, with a click of a button on your smartwatch you can be a superhero for the day and help save the world. See below for a sketch of a child for a school project of the future of smartwatches and time travel.
12-year old Karina Davies Time Travel Smartwatch
The future of the smartwatch will exceed all expectations of the new wave of communication for the society of tomorrow. The Jadis 1.0 is the future. Technology is improving every day and people need and want more of what can help them to be more efficient I their everyday lives. Time is precious and time is money. Time is everything and the smartwatch can attest to tat. As creator of the Jadis 1.0 I can guarantee the watch can help advance the quality of your life buy in all areas of your life like family, business, finances and your social life. This smartwatch is a more effective timepiece so hold tight the greatest smartwatch is coming!
