after reading the articles it has shown me exactly how I already thought about the internet and this era. There are many pros and cons when it comes to social media. Social media helps us come together and gives us our platform to share our thoughts and opinions. But as a society we are too hooked onto the internet. We come together to talk about what ever we feel and we’re able to hear a lot of other’s opinions which can also start many arguments.
Communities are made within social media. You see what ever you want to see. You can mute, repost and follow who ever you want and even build friendships this way but what sucks is that people lose the ability to have an actual conversation in person. It’s like we’re afraid of confrontation or even just afraid to keep an conversation going. The positive from all of this is that when it comes to information, we are able to grasp it as soon as possible and we can all share our thoughts for the world to see. That’s like our own little community in itself.
We tend to spend the majority of our day on social media and with our short attention sounds, we just want to see something new every second. Imagine how many times I’ve caught myself closing Instagram and opening it again when I just closed it. That’s the world we live in now. With technology there will always be perks to it but there is still a lot that is negative.
