Out of what I understood from the articles they explain how the youth is attached to social media. The effect that social media has on groups and communities has pros and cons. For example there are online websites that allow the youth to work in groups together virtually. A con would probably be is it kills the aspect of having actual communities. Social media has made communities more of a virtual than a physical idea. One of the articles called “Social Network Sites: Public, Private, or What?” stresses how much social media has a negative impact on the youth. Which I agree, but I don’t want to be ignorant and ignore the positive impacts too. It makes people feel like they are accepted and fit in? Or is it just the “like” and “share” button that makes teens feel like they noticed. But this could cause insecurity and low self esteem and discourages people to go out to seek in the real world. We can all agree how much social media sucks time away from us without realizing we’ve been about 2 hours on Facebook scrolling on the endless news feed.
But lets not forget the impact the youth has within communities such as the students who protested against the gun laws. Also, the groups by youth around the world whom have brought awareness to the world.
