The last article “does globalization mean we will become one culture” was very interesting. The writer talks about the possibility of globalization turning into a homogeneous culture. He uses Starbucks as an example. He states how each year there’s new identical stores serving cups of near identical coffees, your morning cappuccino is the same no matter whether you are sipping it in Tokyo, New York or Bangkok. Something as simple as that brings us together globally. He also goes more in depth and talks about technology being a reason that we become one culture. Although I do agree that all this new technology does bring us closer together culturally, I still don’t see us eventually becoming one big culture because we still have our differences.
Another article that I felt was pretty interesting was the article that talked sbout multimedia world changing the foundation of education. One thing that stood out to me was the phrase “screen-aging.” This phrase is what they use to call the current youth generation. In this article it states that screen-agers experience the world not in physical boundaries but as an instant global network of wireless connections and interconnections. This reminds me of our younger generation and how they are going to grow up to be screen- agers. As we all know younger kids are so attached to their electronics and it only seems to get worse as technology expands.
